Ouray Countryside in the fall

In the fall, the area surrounding Ouray is even more dramatic when the striking Aspens form an orange and yellow carpet in front of the mountains.

Twin Falls, Yankee Boy BasinJeep rentals are popular here, as are jeep tours into Yankee Boy Basin, home of outstanding scenery and the beautiful Twin Falls.  You can also take a short hike to Box Canyon Falls or soak in the town pool which is fed by natural hot springs.  Along the Million Dollar Highway

One of the most scenic drives in America, the Million Dollar Highway, begins in Ouray and continues south across the Red Mountain Pass.  This highway connects Ouray to Silverton and Durango.  Though it truly has stunning views of the San Juan Mountains, the Million Dollar Highway is also considered one of the most dangerous roads due to its sharp turns, steep ledges, and lack of guard rails.  Don’t miss it, but take care when driving!
