2016 Starting to plan…

Hopeful for a trip to: Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park. First part of planning is to secure lodging!  House emoticon

All in park lodging secured January 2016…next is to watch airfares!

Air reservation done, car rental done…March 2016.  Now onto the fun planning!  For each area, I will prepare a flexible itinerary.  Researching is my happy time!

May 2016…Initial draft of itinerary is completed.  Still need to plan specific hikes and get driving directions for some locations.

August 2016…Itinerary completed!  We are a little nervous about the various reports of wildfires, but hope to be able use a Plan B if necessary.  3 weeks and counting!!!! 🙂

6 days and counting!!!  We are staying tuned in to conditions in the parks and have several Plan B’s available if needed.  Can’t wait to get there!!! ❤

I did not realize when I started planning this trip to our National Parks that 2016 is the 100th Anniversary of our National Park System!  The NPS was officially signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916.  Before that is was an “act” of Congress.  Of course, today’s Yellowstone National Park was the first national park, but was originally designated on March 1, 1872 as the Yellowstone National Park Act.

Here is the link to our final itinerary for this trip.
